These Kansas City engagement photos with Lauren and Kurt were so creative and fun! Lauren found me on Instagram searching for a wedding photographer and we became instant friends. We’re both strong women that also love to be pampered and try not to take life too seriously. She booked me for both her engagement session and her wedding, and we had so much fun doing both! Lauren has a deep appreciation for art and wanted her engagement and wedding photos to be more than just typical engagement and wedding photos. I think we did a great job at accomplishing just that. Modern and Editorial Engagement Photos in the West Bottoms
Lauren had originally planned to go to the Nelson Atkins Museum of art for her and Kurt’s engagement session, but when we found out that the Nelson Atkins doesn’t allow photography sessions inside the museum, we pivoted. We considered many different places, such as an estate house, Union Station in downtown Kansas City, Prosperos Book Store, some downtown Kansas City hotels, but West Bottoms is what she and Kurt settled on to fit their modern, artsy feel.
We wandered around all over the West Bottoms, going in-between buildings and up on 12th street bridge, taking lots of candids of Lauren and Kurt being playful together, some posed photos for a more editorial look, and then getting those blurry photos that feel like you’re right in the moment, too. The three of us had a lot of fun being tourists in our city that October night! I absolutely LOVE the West Bottoms and it always makes me so happy when my couples choose it for their photo location.
