I'm a Kansas City wedding photographer with a deep love for storytelling. I love to work with couples that want a wedding gallery that is an authentic reflection of their love for one another.
Take a look at Lauren and Kurt’s images from their intimate wedding at Firehouse KC. In this blog, we will go over some of the highlights that this intimate wedding venue in Kansas City has to offer, as well as the details of this wedding.
Firehouse KC is a wedding venue in Kansas City. It is considered a historical landmark, formerly being the city’s first and only fire station. Some of its notable features are high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and a stairwell with exposed brick and portrait windows. The building’s vintage architecture makes a beautiful backdrop for a wedding.
Lauren and Kurt’s intimate wedding at Firehouse KC wowed their guests with lots of color and fun. In contrast to the venue’s modern design, vibrant decor filled each room. Lauren’s handmade decorations turned each room into a spring dream. Additionally, the florals by Bel Fiore Co. brought the rooms to life.
Lauren prepped in the bridal suite, a room with a vintage red settee and lots of windows. While she was getting ready, we snuck in some bridal photos, too. (Rooms with unique features and natural light make great spaces for bridal photos.) Lauren applied her own makeup, although she hired Denice Martincich with Perfect Hair Perfect Day to style her hair. Her Martina Liana bridal gown from True Society featured stunning floral lace, complemented by the spring decorations. Not only was her dress perfect, but her dramatic veil took Lauren’s look to a whole new level.
In addition to the bridal suite, there is a room for the groom to get ready at Firehouse KC. This is where Kurt and his best man prepared together. Since there are multiple rooms for getting ready, there is no need to rent an off-site location – one of the perks Firehouse KC has to offer.
Lauren and Kurt said ‘I do’ in the ceremony room. As guests walked into the ceremony room, colorful signs greeted them. Spring florals adorned the aisle chairs and the ceremony arch creating a wedding fit for spring, while the hanging chandelier added a layer of elegance.
After the vows, family and friends stuck around for formal group portraits. We also set time aside for pictures of just Lauren and Kurt. The arched windows in the ceremony room gave us excellent light. They also made for a beautiful backdrop in their photos. We made sure to take some photos in the stairwell before their grand entrance, too.
The fun kicked off when Lauren and Kurt entered the main hall for their reception. Colorful table linens and flowers in bud vases set the tables, bringing the reception hall to life. Guests enjoyed Minsky’s pizza for dinner, and drinks were served by Love on the Rocks KC. The purple and orange cake with lambeth piping was made by McClain’s Bakery, complementing Lauren’s springtime wedding creations perfectly. Also, DJ Connection did a great job keeping the dance floor lively.
Initially, Lauren and Kurt planned to have a sparkler exit, but changed their minds in the moment. They decided to finish the night with some fun flash photos in front of the venue with Kurt’s vintage Mercedes car. It was a really fun way to end their wedding night.
Overall, Lauren and Kurt’s intimate wedding at Firehouse KC was lovely. Their wedding was filled with lots of fun and romance. The handcrafted decor and fresh floral arrangements reflected their style wonderfully. Furthermore, the unique features of Firehouse KC added a lot of charm. Lauren and Kurt’s intimate wedding is a great example of the versatility of the Firehouse KC wedding venue.
