I'm a Kansas City wedding photographer with a deep love for storytelling. I love to work with couples that want a wedding gallery that is an authentic reflection of their love for one another.
The Hobbs wedding venue is a beautiful space for your wedding. The exposed brick and wood beams make the space feel industrial, with design details that are reminiscent of the Art Deco period. The courtyard with the twinkle lights makes for a romantic wedding ceremony or cocktail hour location. The grand room makes for a great wedding reception space (or also an indoor cocktail hour) with plenty of room to party all night.
The best part of the design of this venue is that wedding photos here turn out wonderful. There are windows throughout the building, providing natural light (which is ideal for pictures). The courtyard twinkle lights add a romantic feel to the outdoor photos. Plus, the urban setting of the West Bottoms is such a fun vibe for pictures outside of the venue.
Planning a big wedding? This venue in the West Bottoms can host over 200 guests! The grand room can seat up to 300 people with round tables, and there is the option to add/use the courtyard to accommodate another 200 guests. The Hobbs also offers flexibility with the design layout for your wedding, so you can have exactly the wedding you want to have.
The Hobbs is an excellent wedding or reception venue in Kansas City. For couples that want to celebrate in a building with beautiful rooms and spaces both inside and out, and a distinctive character that sets it apart from traditional ballroom venues, this is a great choice.
The Hobbs has a lot to offer for couples who are planning their wedding in the West Bottoms of Kansas City. Some of the inclusions are: event space set up, catering and bar services, and two getting ready suites.
Not every event space in Kansas City includes full event space set up as part of their packages, but The Hobbs does. What does this mean for couples that get married there? It means that when you book The Hobbs wedding venue you’ll get 5 hours of set up time with on-site event staff. One hour of clean-up time at the end of your event is also included.
One of the biggest perks to getting married at the Hobbs is its partnership with Brancato’s Catering. This partnership means that your wedding package will come with all-inclusive catering, making your wedding planning that much easier. It includes options such as a customized menu, full-service catering, cake cutting service, all the necessary catering equipment, and closing service. Many venues require you to coordinate separately with caterers, but this partnership really sets The Hobbs apart from Kansas City venues.
Another detail of The Hobbs that makes it an exceptional wedding venue is that it has two getting ready spaces on-site. Having two rooms for getting ready onsite can help the wedding day flow more smoothly.
I love photographing weddings at The Hobbs – its historical design and Art Deco details create a unique backdrop that’s both vintage and modern. The venue can accommodate 200+ guests, making it perfect for larger celebrations. And the combination of indoor natural light and romantic courtyard lighting creates beautiful photo opportunities. If you’re able to include time for portraits outside the venue, the West Bottoms offers several additional scenic spots nearby. (Check out this blog on engagement photos in the West Bottoms for more inspo!) Overall, if you want a venue with distinctive character, extensive services, and great photo potential, The Hobbs is definitely worth considering.
